About Us
From Regiment to Rickhouse
That story actually starts long before there was a bottle, a label, or even the idea of starting a whiskey company.
It goes back to the spring of 2012.
I was a young Sergeant in 3rd Ranger Battalion. A twenty-something kid who had spent most of his adult life working toward one goal: earning the privilege of serving in what I believed was the greatest unit in the United States Army.
At that age, I thought I had the world pretty well figured out.
Then my first son was born.
Everything changed.
My priorities changed. My perspective changed. And as much as I loved the Regiment and being a Ranger, I realized there was something I loved even more—being a dad.
During my first deployment in Battalion, I made the decision that it would also be my last. I was going to leave the Army and focus on being a present father.
What I wasn’t prepared for was how difficult that transition would be.
Separating from the Army and trying to figure out who I was outside of that uniform led me through some pretty dark years. When you’ve spent so much of your life chasing one purpose, losing it can leave a bigger hole than you expect.
But being a father gave me something worth fighting through those years for.
Eventually, life moved forward.
Thirteen years passed. I built a life, raised a family, became an entrepreneur, and kept searching for whatever that next mission was supposed to be.
Then I found it in one of the last places I expected.
A charity ruck march along Lake Michigan raising awareness for veteran suicide.
I had recently lost two Ranger buddies to suicide, so that particular mission meant something to me. And in typical Ranger fashion, I wasn’t exactly interested in hanging out at the back of the formation.
I started working my way through the crowd toward the front.
As I passed one of the other participants, I noticed he was wearing a hat from a Ranger-owned company I recognized. I complimented the hat as I went by.
That simple comment turned into a conversation.
The conversation lasted a few miles.
And those few miles turned into a friendship between two entrepreneurs.
Hearing about what they were building and, more importantly, why they were building it lit a fire in me that I hadn’t felt since I was in my twenties training to earn that tan beret.
For the first time in a long time, I knew exactly what I wanted to do.
In true Sua Sponte fashion, I went all in.
I immersed myself in the spirits industry and became fascinated with American whiskey. Bourbon and rye aren’t just drinks. They’re woven into the history of this country. Our rye recipe traces its roots all the way back to George Washington.
Whiskey has also always had a way of bringing people together.
It gets poured around campfires, at reunions, after long days, during celebrations, and in remembrance of people who aren’t sitting at the table anymore.
And I realized it could do something else.
It could give back.
It could become a vehicle to support the veteran organizations in our own communities doing incredible work every single day.
That’s when Rangers Creed finally made sense.
Build an American whiskey company rooted in the values that shaped me.
Create something Rangers, veterans, and everyday Americans could be proud to put on their shelf.
Use it to bring people together.
And make sure that as the company grows, the mission grows with it.
Thirteen years after taking off the uniform, I finally found another mission worth chasing.
Rangers Creed Whiskey.
Whiskey for Warfighters.
And we’re just getting started.
